Front End - Software Engineer

IBM Power for Google Cloud (IP4G) is a rapidly growing public cloud infrastructure platform with a global presence in Google Cloud. IP4G allows the largest enterprises to modernize the infrastructure that supports their mission-critical workloads. We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to guide, design, and build front-end user experiences for our platform. You will work with our team of backend engineers to completely renew the web UI experience for our users.

General Accountabilities

  • Build and own responsive interfaces for critical user journeys. 
  • Participate in, and/or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies. 
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency). 
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback. 
  •  Collaborate with SRE resources on product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality. 
  • Establish architectural principles, select design patterns, and collaborate with development team members 
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, design, security, compliance etc.) to bring ideas to life


Job Qualifications: 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • ITSM foundation training is required.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, with a concentration in front-end development. 
  • 5+ years of experience across back-ends such as Java, Python, Go, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript or equivalent. 
  •  Expert-level understanding of the Angular framework, TypeScript, GraphQL, and CSS.
  • Familiarity and experience with the Google Cloud, Go, Python, OAuth, OpenAPI/swagger are highly desired


Professional Skills:  

  • The ability and willingness to refactor legacy code with minimal guidance. 
  • Strong grasp of web application testing practices and tools like Jest, Cypress, and code-coverage instrumentation 
  • Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis, resolution, and test engineering 
  • Self-motivated with experience working on a remote team.
